Dietitian's Tips for Consuming Beef Broth Tablet

A beef bouillon cube is not simply a dried serving of plain stock. It combines salt, fat, starch, flavourings and other ingredients in a concentrated product. The named example here is Knorr Türkiye's 12-pack beef bouillon, with 277 kcal and 49.6 g salt per 100 g dry product.

How many calories are in one cube?

Check the cube weight on your pack first. A weighed 10 g amount provides about 28 kcal, 0.77 g protein and 1.9 g fat, alongside 4.96 g salt. Using 5 g contributes about 14 kcal and 2.48 g salt. A 10 g cube size cannot be assumed for every brand or pack.

Dividing bouillon between servings

If you use 10 g in a dish and divide it into four equal shares, each share receives about 7 kcal and 1.24 g salt from the bouillon alone. Meat, vegetables, oil and any additional salt are separate. This calculation assumes the bouillon is distributed evenly.

Adding water dilutes the product but does not remove the pot's total salt. Do not assign the dry product's per-100-g panel to 100 g of prepared soup. Follow your pack's directions for dilution and use.

Salt and sodium on a label express the same contribution in different ways; do not add them together as two separate salt sources.

Ingredients and allergens

The producer lists iodised salt, palm fat, starches, flavour enhancers, flavourings, vegetable ingredients, beef and celery. Celery is an allergen to check. Replacing plain stock with this product changes both the seasoning and the salt contribution.

Source note

Calculations use the producer's 12-pack beef bouillon label. Other pack versions and brands have not been combined with it. Sodium is calculated from the declared salt; unreported fibre and micronutrients are not treated as zero.
