How many calories are in Dorbi chocolate chips?

The retailer’s panel for the 100 g Dorbi pack lists 557 kcal. A weighed 10 g addition supplies about 56 kcal and 3.83 g sugars; 20 g supplies 111 kcal and 7.66 g sugars. The whole bag is a different amount from a small topping scattered over a cake.

Counting chips in a batch of cookies

Adding 40 g Dorbi chips contributes about 223 kcal to the batch. If all the chips stay in the dough and it is divided into ten equal cookies, the chocolate contributes about 22 kcal per cookie. That is not the energy of the whole cookie: flour, fat, eggs and the other ingredients still count.

When using a nutrition entry for a finished chocolate-chip cake, do not add its included chips again. Count only a separate topping added afterwards. Melting does not remove the chocolate’s energy, and milk or cream stirred into it adds another ingredient.

Sugars, fat and the product description

A 20 g amount contains 11.2 g carbohydrate, 6.76 g fat and 4.2 g saturated fat. Sugars are included within carbohydrate; adding the two figures together would overcount it. Weighing a decorative sprinkle separately from a large baking ingredient makes the calculation clearer.

The retailer lists sugar, cocoa ingredients and vegetable fat. It does not provide a cocoa percentage, so a specific dark-chocolate percentage cannot be assigned to this product. Milk, white or other branded chips can have different panels. Check the package ingredient and trace-allergen statements rather than treating the name as proof that the chips are milk-free or gluten-free.

When comparing chocolate chips, use labels at equal weights rather than assuming the chip shape implies one recipe. Ulker dark chips declare 4.9 g sugars in 10 g, compared with 3.83 g in this Dorbi reference. That sugar difference alone does not establish cocoa percentage or an overall better product.

Figures use A101’s Dorbi 100 g product panel. Its allergen prose conflicts about traces versus presence, so no definite absence claim is made. Fibre and undeclared vitamins and minerals remain unknown. Use your own pack if its panel differs.
