How many calories are in chopped canned ham?

This entry describes chopped canned pork ham. It provides 239 kcal and 16.06 g protein per 100 grams. The source's thin 21-gram slice contains 50 kcal; two such slices, 42 grams, provide 100 kcal. Slice thickness varies between products, so a weighed amount is more reliable than an unqualified slice count.

What comes with the protein?

Two reference slices supply 6.75 g protein and 537.6 mg sodium, equivalent to about 1.34 g salt. Grams of salt and milligrams of sodium are different measures. The reference contains 6.29 g saturated fat per 100 grams. Consider sodium and fat alongside protein when comparing choices.

Adding pickles, salty cheese and sauces to a ham sandwich can increase its sodium further. Tomatoes, cucumber and leafy vegetables add volume while letting you keep salty extras smaller. Bread and other fillings are not included in this ham table. The source reports zero fibre, so vegetables and the choice of bread also matter for the meal's fibre.

Is this the same as turkey or beef ham?

No. The generic canned pork reference does not describe turkey, chicken, beef ham or non-canned chopped ham. Canned luncheon meat can be a different meat mixture. Check the meat type, sodium and serving weight on your product. When seeking a lower-sodium option, compare equal weights rather than differently sized packs.

Does canned ham need refrigeration?

Once opened, even shelf-stable canned ham needs refrigeration at 4°C/40°F or below and should be used within 3–4 days. Follow a shorter period on the pack if specified. A can labelled “keep refrigerated” also needs cold storage before opening; not all canned ham is shelf-stable.
