Mood Bitter is a cocoa biscuit, not a chocolate bar

A 25 g amount of Biscolata Mood Bitter supplies 124 kcal and 8.05 g sugars. The entire 125 g cup contains 620 kcal and 40.25 g sugars. “Bitter” describes a cream-filled cocoa biscuit here; the portions and nutrient profile of a high-cocoa chocolate bar should not be applied to it.

Measuring the amount taken from the cup

Five equal weighed shares of a 125 g cup are 25 g each. A 40 g amount supplies about 198 kcal, 23.44 g carbohydrate and 12.88 g sugars. Since the label does not establish grams per biscuit, weigh a few pieces together. No fixed number of biscuits per pack has been verified.

How different is it from regular Mood?

Equal 25 g amounts of bitter and regular Mood provide about 124 and 125 kcal. Sugars are 8.05 g in bitter and 9.28 g in regular; the supplier panels give saturated fat amounts of 5.58 and 3.45 g, respectively. A reduction in sugars does not mean every part of the nutrient profile has changed in the same direction.

The bitter version supplies 1.33 g fibre per 25 g, compared with 0.8 g in the same weight of regular Mood. Weigh equal amounts from both cups: comparing a whole cup with a few pieces confuses portion size with a difference between products.

Does 47% cocoa refer to the whole biscuit?

No. The minimum 47% cocoa-solids statement describes the dark chocolate used in the cream. Cream makes up 62% of the product, and dark chocolate is 1% of that cream. Cocoa powder also appears in the cream and biscuit layer; the label does not establish 47% cocoa in the whole product.

Skimmed milk powder appears explicitly in the ingredients. Although the separate allergen box calls milk a possible trace, milk powder is a declared recipe component; the product is not a milk-free or vegan option. Wheat gluten and egg are also present, with separate trace warnings for sesame, hazelnut, soya and peanut.

Source note: Figures use the 125 g Mood Bitter supplier panel. The explicit milk ingredient takes precedence over the inconsistent trace box. Sodium is calculated as 240 mg/100 g from 0.6 g salt; unreported micronutrients are not borrowed from other chocolates.
