What is in a 26 g Nirvana coconut layered wafer?

The milk-chocolate-coated layered wafer provides 139 kcal, 8.89 g sugars and 6.32 g saturated fat per 26 g pack. Coconut contributes to the flavour, but the product combines chocolate, cream and wafer rather than being a serving of coconut flesh.

A whole pack or a half

A weighed 13 g half contains 70 kcal, 4.45 g sugars and 3.16 g saturated fat. The whole pack has 1.2 g fibre and 1.61 g protein. Setting aside the amount you intend to share when opening the wrapper makes the portion easier to follow.

Reading the coconut percentage

Cream accounts for 42% of the recipe and contains 3% coconut; another 9% coconut is listed separately. Together they amount to 10.26% of the wafer, approximately 2.67 g in the 26 g pack. A 42% cream declaration is not a 42% coconut declaration.

Milk chocolate makes up 36% and wafer 13%. Cocoa and milk-solids percentages stated for the coating do not apply to the entire product.

How does the white-chocolate Roll differ?

Comparing whole packs also compares different weights. At an equal 20 g, the layered wafer gives about 107 kcal and 6.84 g sugars, while the white-chocolate Roll gives about 114 kcal and 8.92 g sugars. Saturated fat goes the other way: 4.86 g in the layered wafer versus 3.76 g in Roll. Calories alone do not describe every difference.

Milk, soya and wheat gluten are ingredients. Egg, tree nuts, peanuts and sesame have possible-trace warnings; an egg trace warning is different from egg being a listed ingredient.

Source note: Figures use the 26 g product panel with 42% cream. The 557.3 kcal declaration for a 100 g pack with 44% cream belongs to a different recipe. Sodium is calculated from 0.5 g salt; unreported micronutrients remain unknown.
