Nirvana hazelnut layered wafer: pack size and nut content

A 20 g amount of the referenced Biscolata Nirvana hazelnut layered wafer supplies about 111 kcal and 6.68 g sugars. The entire 100 g pack provides 553 kcal. The flat layered wafer and the cylindrical Nirvana Roll are different products; a shared hazelnut flavour does not make their nutrition panels interchangeable.

Five equal weighed shares of a 100 g pack are 20 g each. Dividing it into four gives 25 g portions, each with about 138 kcal and 8.35 g sugars. Half the pack, 50 g, supplies 277 kcal and 16.7 g sugars. If the wafer's visible divisions do not ensure equal weights, use a scale.

Are the visible pieces all of the hazelnut?

The recipe has 7% separately added hazelnut, plus hazelnut within its cream. Cream makes up 48% of the wafer and contains 9% hazelnut. Together those contributions equal about 11.32% of the whole product, or 2.26 g hazelnut in 20 g wafer. Visible pieces can make the nut quantity easy to overestimate.

A 20 g amount provides 1.54 g protein and 0.58 g fibre. It does not supply the same nutrients as an equal weight of plain hazelnuts: cream, chocolate and wafer layers all contribute to the final composition.

Roll, older packs and allergen differences

The calculation uses the 48%-cream formula published for the 100 g pack. The same panel is also listed for a 20 g pack. The historical 26 g product with 49% cream and the different sugar/fat profile of the 28 g Roll have been kept separate. The 27.5 g Bitter Roll also has its own pack weight and cocoa-cream formula. If your package has different ingredients or energy values, use its own label.

Milk, soya lecithin, hazelnut and wheat gluten are ingredients. Trace warnings also cover peanut, pistachio, almond, walnut, sesame and egg. Removing the visible hazelnut pieces does not remove hazelnut from the product, because it is also present in the cream.
