Calories in Dr. Oetker gluten-free chocolate sauce

Dry powder and prepared sauce need separate calculations. The manufacturer's page for the 128 g pack lists 373 kcal per 100 g dry powder and 143 kcal per 100 g prepared sauce. This page's main nutrition table and portion selector describe the dry powder. If you have a 123 g pack or another edition, use its own label rather than assuming the same formula.

The packet and the added milk

The 128 g dry packet supplies about 477 kcal. That is not the energy of the whole saucepan including milk. One eighth of the powder, 16 g, contributes about 60 kcal, 12.48 g carbohydrate and 11.04 g sugar. Distributing a packet equally over eight desserts assigns that powder contribution to each; milk and the desserts themselves must be counted separately.

For this 128 g product, the manufacturer's standard preparation uses 500 ml milk, followed by 2–3 minutes of cooking while stirring after the mixture starts boiling. It also gives a 350 ml milk option for a thicker sauce. Changing the milk amount or type means the prepared value of 143 kcal per 100 g may no longer apply. For your own version, calculate all ingredients and weigh the finished sauce; milk volume is not the final sauce weight. The label-to-portion calculation lets you retain each ingredient’s own per-100-g or per-100-ml basis.

Sugar in the sauce poured over a dessert

Using the separate prepared-sauce declaration, a weighed 20 g amount supplies about 29 kcal and 4 g total sugars. This is not the calculation for 20 g of dry powder. Measuring the sauce poured over cake or ice cream is more useful than treating the entire packet as one serving.

Gluten-free does not mean sugar-free or suitable for a milk allergy. The dry product carries a may-contain warning for milk and hazelnuts, and the standard preparation adds milk. Lactose-free milk does not remove the milk-allergy concern.

For comparison, 20 g of Kenton sauce prepared with milk supplies about 26 kcal and 3.6 g sugars. Compare prepared sauce with prepared sauce, keeping dry-powder figures separate.

Which label is used?

The source is the manufacturer's 128 g gluten-free chocolate sauce page, with separate dry and prepared declarations. Fiber and most micronutrients are not declared for the powder and remain unknown. Do not multiply a retailer's prepared-sauce values by dry packet weight. The ingredients and preparation directions on your actual package take precedence.
