A slice includes the banana and cream

Dr. Oetker mole cake prepared according to the Turkish instructions provides 229 calories and 21 g sugars per 100 g. The banana, cream and cake crumbs are part of the prepared cake. A weighed 75 g slice supplies 172 calories, 24 g carbohydrate and 15.75 g sugars. A larger 150 g slice reaches 344 calories and 31.5 g sugars.

Building the dome

Once the cocoa cake has baked and cooled, scoop out roughly half a centimetre from its centre, leaving a rim about 1 cm wide. Arrange lengthwise banana halves in the hollow. Whip the cream mixture with cold milk, stir in the chocolate pieces and spread it over the bananas to form a dome. Cover with the reserved cake crumbs. The manufacturer recommends approximately 2 hours in the refrigerator before serving.

Equal-looking slices are not necessarily equal in weight. A piece nearer the dome’s centre can contain more cream. Weigh the slice you serve, and count extra banana, sauce or cream separately if you add them.

The strawberry and coconut cake recipe does not include a cream frosting. The banana and creamy filling here are included in the prepared-cake calculation. Sharing the description fruit cake does not give the two slices the same ingredients or nutrition.

The 450 g box is not the finished cake weight

The box contains dry components; margarine, eggs, milk and bananas are added during preparation. The dry mix declares 415 calories per 100 g, while the prepared cake declares 229. Multiplying the dry box weight by the prepared value will not give the energy in the whole cake.

The ingredients list includes wheat, milk ingredients and beef gelatin, with possible soy and tree-nut traces. Eggs are also added during preparation. Do not assume this product matches a gelatin-free home recipe or a similarly named mix sold in another country.

When reading the label, consider how gelatin differs from plant-based alternatives; this is not a vegetarian cake mix.

Source note: the prepared-product column on the manufacturer’s Turkish mole cake page gives 32 g carbohydrate, 4.2 g protein and 9.2 g fat per 100 g. Exact ingredient weights and finished cake yield were not assumed. Fibre and undeclared micronutrients remain unknown.
