Rocco raspberry-lemon sugar-free candy calories

The supplier label for the Turkish 12-gram Rocco Sıkı Şeker raspberry-lemon product declares 238.7 calories per 100 grams, or 239 rounded to a whole calorie. The full 12-gram pack therefore provides 29 calories. Raspberry-lemon flavour does not make the candy a serving of fruit.

Calories per piece and per pack

An individual piece weight is not supplied. A weighed 1 gram provides 2 calories, and 3 grams provides 7. These are weight examples, not confirmed weights for one candy. Use a stated piece weight or weigh the amount you eat before calculating a piece-based serving.

The figures apply to this 12-gram raspberry-lemon product. Pomegranate-strawberry, mint and other brands may have different formulas. If your pack size or nutrition panel differs, use the label on that package.

For example, the sugar-based Olips Vitamin C formula provides about 105 kcal per 28 g pack. That is a different product and amount from this 12 g Rocco pack; neither pack figure represents one candy.

Why does sugar-free candy contain calories?

Sugars are declared as zero, while carbohydrate is 98.8 grams per 100 grams. Ingredients include sorbitol, aspartame and acesulfame K. Sorbitol is a sugar alcohol, and sugar-free foods can still provide energy. Multiplying all carbohydrate by four does not reproduce this product's declared energy.

The 12-gram pack contains 11.86 grams of carbohydrate. A separate polyol amount is not declared, so all carbohydrate cannot be labelled as sorbitol. Fat and protein are each 0.1 grams per 100 grams; salt is declared as zero. Fibre and undeclared micronutrients remain unknown. The sugars and carbohydrate explanation for First green mint gum illustrates the same distinction in another sugar-free product.

Reading beyond the sugar-free claim

Sugar-free is not an instruction to eat an unlimited amount. If you track carbohydrate, use the weight eaten and this product's own panel. The front-of-pack claim alone does not establish whether it fits your eating plan.

The ingredients also include citric acid, flavourings and plant extracts used for colour. Read the current pack for sweetener and consumption warnings. Raspberry-lemon flavour does not establish a measurable vitamin contribution.
