Values are calculated from a 100 g basis. The product, recipe and serving amount can change the result. See the food-specific notes below for the reference used.

Black seed oil calories follow the amount added

The pure black seed oil reference provides about 45 kcal per 5 g and 90 kcal per 10 g. A 5 g amount contains approximately 5 g fat, including 0.79 g saturated fat. A strongly flavoured oil may be used sparingly, but the amount on the spoon still matters.

Adding it to salad or yoghurt

Adding 5 g of the oil to a salad dressing contributes about 45 kcal to the salad. The oil makes the same contribution when mixed into yoghurt. Weighing the addition is more reliable than assuming that every household dessertspoon holds a fixed number of grams or millilitres.

If black seed oil replaces part of another oil, calculate the amounts actually used rather than counting both original quantities in full. The volume of a bottle is not a serving. Use a product labelled for food consumption; an oil sold for cosmetic use should not automatically be treated as an edible equivalent.

Adding 5 g oil to 150 g plain whole-milk yoghurt gives an example bowl of about 136 kcal. The oil adds about 45 kcal while the yoghurt’s 5.21 g protein remains unchanged; the pure oil adds no protein.

Does it contain fibre, protein or omega-3?

The reference label declares zero protein, carbohydrate, sugars and fibre. The fibre and mineral values of whole nigella seeds cannot be carried over to the extracted oil. A polyunsaturated-fat figure does not establish the omega-3 content either; the reference product does not provide an omega-3 amount.

A measured portion is not a treatment dose

The 5 g and 10 g amounts illustrate nutrition calculations. They are not personal dosing advice for morning, evening or fasting use. If you take regular medicines and are considering a supplement, discuss it with a clinician or pharmacist. A nutrition label does not establish weight loss, pain relief or treatment of a disease.

Oil reference

The figures use Zelome’s 100% black seed oil label. The manufacturer describes supercritical CO₂ extraction, so the example is not labelled here as cold-pressed. Calculations follow 899 kcal per 100 g; the stated kJ figure has a conversion discrepancy. Unreported micronutrients remain unknown. MSK’s supplement review also informs the distinction between a culinary measure and a treatment dose.
