The Mövenpick Swiss Chocolate reference supplies approximately 290 kcal per 100 g and 145 kcal per weighed 50 g. Froneri’s Finnish formula contains whole milk and 22% cream. It should not be treated as the label for every chocolate Mövenpick product sold worldwide.

What goes into a 50 g bowl?

50 g contains 14.25 g carbohydrate, 11.8 g sugars, 8.6 g fat, 4.3 g saturated fat and 2.1 g protein. Increasing the serving to 75 g gives approximately 217 kcal, 17.7 g sugars and 6.45 g saturated fat. Even a modest increase in the bowl changes those totals.

A cone or chocolate sauce adds to the plain ice cream. For sharing, weighed amounts are clearer than scoop counts because no standard scoop weight is supplied. The 2.4 L tub weighs 1,365 g, whereas the raspberry-strawberry sorbet tub of the same volume weighs 1,469 g. Equal volumes need not provide equal grams.

Cream, chocolate and cocoa ingredients

Whole milk and cream are followed by sugar, glucose syrup, cocoa mass, reduced-fat cocoa powder and sunflower oil. Dextrose, milk powder, whey powder, egg yolk and cocoa butter are also present. The product description’s 2.5% chocolate is not the combined percentage of all cocoa ingredients.

At equal 50 g weights, the chocolate reference provides about 145 kcal compared with 60 kcal for the raspberry-strawberry sorbet. Sugars are 11.8 g and 12.75 g respectively. The lower-energy option is not automatically the lower-sugar one.

Milk and egg ingredients

The product contains milk and egg and may contain nuts. Calcium is not declared on the panel, despite the milk ingredients. With 2.1 g protein per 50 g, a bowl cannot simply be counted as nutritionally interchangeable with milk or yoghurt.

Matching the reference to your tub
