Calories in one walnut cookie

A cookie weighing 20 g provides about 90 kcal in the reference recipe; a 25 g cookie provides 113 kcal. Appearance alone cannot establish the weight. If two cookies weigh 40 g together, they provide approximately 180 kcal. Establish the total weight before relying on a piece count.

The cocoa and walnut recipe

The reference cookies contain flour, margarine, cooking oil, egg, walnuts, icing sugar and a little cocoa. Chocolate-chip cookies and walnut cookies made only with egg whites have different recipes. A 20 g example supplies 5.06 g fat, 9.61 g carbohydrate and 1.64 g protein. Flour and added fat contribute to the total alongside the walnuts.

In the apple-and-walnut cookie, walnuts are part of the apple filling, with a butter-and-yogurt dough that differs from this cocoa recipe. A shared walnut ingredient does not give both cookies the same calories per piece.

A plate of cookies with tea

Weigh the cookies on the plate together. A total of 80 g provides about 361 kcal, regardless of how many pieces make up that weight. Record sugar in your tea or added milk separately. Icing sugar sprinkled on after baking is also an addition beyond the amount already included in the recipe.

Changing the fat or flour

Replacing margarine with butter, adding more ground walnuts or changing the flour alters the calculation. Water is lost during baking, so raw dough weight cannot establish the nutrient concentration of the finished cookies. Use the total recipe energy and the edible weight of all the cooled cookies. Check wheat, egg, walnut and any allergens in the particular fat product you use.

Source note: The Diyetkolik recipe and its 80 g, 360.53 kcal serving record give approximately 451 kcal per 100 g. The source's 20 g piece is illustrative, not universal. Total sugars are unknown; ambiguous saturated-fat units and vitamin A in IU were not converted.
