Eti Karam 54% dark chocolate calories

The supplier panel for the plain 60-gram Eti Karam 54% cocoa bar gives 531 calories per 100 grams. The whole bar provides 319 calories. Pistachio, almond-orange and 70% cocoa varieties have separate formulations and are not included in this calculation.

Weighing a piece or half a bar

The source does not specify the weight of one square. A weighed 10 grams provides 53 calories, 20 grams provides 106, and half the pack, 30 grams, provides 159. Weigh the pieces together instead of assigning every square a fixed calorie count.

Eating chocolate with fruit or yogurt changes the meal's composition without reducing the chocolate's energy. In a dessert, count the other ingredients as well as the chocolate, then calculate the share actually eaten.

Sugars, fat and the cocoa percentage

The panel reports 44 grams of sugars, 32 grams of fat and 21 grams of saturated fat per 100 grams. A weighed 20 grams contains 8.8 grams of sugars and 4.2 grams of saturated fat. The 54% figure is the minimum cocoa-solids content, not the sugar percentage.

Protein is 7.2 grams and fibre is 9.5 grams per 100 grams. The 20-gram example supplies 1.9 grams of fibre. Declared salt of 0.09 gram corresponds to 36 mg of sodium per 100 grams. Undeclared vitamins, minerals and cholesterol have not been borrowed from another dark chocolate. The guide to reading cocoa percentage alongside the nutrition panel helps compare dark chocolates at equal weights.

The same 20 g amount of the milk-chocolate-with-almonds reference contains 8.78 g sugars, very close to the 8.8 g here. The dark-chocolate name alone does not establish a lower-sugar choice; compare the actual labels.

The 45% Karam label gives 9.2 g sugars and 4.6 g saturated fat per equal 20 g. This compares two specific labels; cocoa percentage cannot predict the same difference for every brand.

Including it in a meal plan

Consider the amount set aside alongside the other foods eaten that day. The word dark does not make portions unlimited or require everyone to avoid the product. This panel cannot promise a heart-health effect or predict an individual's glucose response.

The ingredients include butter, so the bar is not dairy-free. Read the package for trace warnings, including nuts, gluten and soy. If your current package differs from the online panel, calculate from your own label.
