Fresh jujube calories and edible weight

Fresh jujube supplies 79 calories per 100 g of edible fruit, with the stone removed. A fruit with 15 g of edible flesh has 12 calories; four fruits totalling 60 g have 47. The 15 g piece is a weighed example, not a standard fruit size. The calculator uses the USDA record for raw Ziziphus jujuba. [1]

How many jujubes can you eat on a diet?

A handful is hard to compare because jujubes vary in size. Remove the stones and weigh the portion you intend to eat. A 60 g serving contains 12.14 g of carbohydrate; it is an example for the calculator, not a daily allowance for everyone. If your four fruits weigh more or less, use their actual edible weight.

Jujube does not cause weight loss on its own, nor does eating one automatically cause weight gain. Consider how it fits with the rest of your meals. Chopped fresh jujube works with plain yoghurt as a snack; count the yoghurt separately if you are tracking the meal.

Does fresh jujube contain sugar?

Yes. Jujube contains naturally occurring sugars, but the 20.23 g of carbohydrate per 100 g is not a sugar measurement. The reference does not report separate total-sugar or fibre values, so no number is assigned to either here. An unreported value is not zero. If you have diabetes, include the fruit in your carbohydrate plan rather than treating it as a food that lowers blood glucose. [2]

What nutritional benefits does jujube offer?

The reference provides 69 mg of vitamin C and 250 mg of potassium per 100 g. Vitamin C varies with cultivar and ripeness, so a single table cannot describe every harvest. Those nutrients are a reason to consider jujube among your fruit choices, not evidence that it treats disease. Claims about special benefits for women's hormones or fertility cannot be inferred from its nutrient content. [3]

Is a Chinese date the same as a dried date?

Chinese date and red date are names used for jujube. The fruit is botanically different from the date palm's fruit. Fresh and dried jujubes also need different nutrition entries: drying removes water and concentrates the fruit per gram. Do not enter dried fruit into this fresh-jujube calculator. Check the label for sweetened, candied or syrup-packed products. [3]

How do you eat and store fresh jujube?

Rinse the fruit under running water, remove the hard stone and eat the flesh with its skin, or chop it into yoghurt. Keep fresh, firm fruit refrigerated and separate damaged pieces. The skin turning reddish brown during ripening is normal; mould, leaking flesh or an off smell is not simply a colour change. [3]

What about jujube during pregnancy?

Fresh fruit and concentrated jujube extracts are different products. For fruit, follow pregnancy food-hygiene advice, remove the stone and fit the portion into your meal plan; ask your care team about amounts if you have gestational diabetes. Do not use jujube as a pregnancy remedy or assume seed extracts and herbal supplements are safe because the fruit is edible. [4] [5]
