The 120 g pack of Peyman Bahçeden Cranberry contains dried cranberries with apple juice concentrate and sunflower oil. It provides 321 calories per 100 g. A 15 g topping for salad or oats adds about 48 calories and 10.37 g total sugars.

Dietitian's Tips for Consuming Peyman Bahçeden Cranberry

Are these unsweetened cranberries?

No: apple juice concentrate is part of the ingredients, so the product should not be described as sugar-free. The label reports 69.1 g total sugars per 100 g. A 30 g portion contains 20.73 g sugars within 25.62 g total carbohydrate. Do not add sugars to carbohydrate again when calculating the total.

The tartness of fresh cranberries does not tell you how much sugar the dried product contains. Conversely, the label does not state a separate added-sugar amount, so all 69.1 g cannot be described as added sugar.

A 15 g amount of Peyman Dried Mulberries, containing only mulberries, has 11.58 g sugars, compared with 10.37 g in the same weight of cranberries here. Absence of juice concentrate does not guarantee less total sugar than another dried fruit.

The label guide separating no-added-sugar, sugar-free and calorie-free claims explains how ingredients, carbohydrate and portion size need to be read together, including for fruit-based products.

Portioning a salad or oatmeal topping

A 15 g topping contributes about 0.83 g fibre. Sharing that amount between two bowls gives 7.5 g each, about 24 calories and 5.18 g sugars. If adding nuts as well, weigh them separately; small-looking pieces can still add up. The entire 120 g pack provides about 385 calories and 82.92 g sugars.

Which pack does the table describe?

Calculations use the supplier panel for the 120 g pack, without combining it with the 336-calorie figures for a 150 g pack or the manufacturer’s English page. Trace warnings cover nuts, peanuts, soy, milk, mustard, broad beans and sulphur dioxide. Store cool and dry. The dried-fruit table does not describe cranberry juice or extract doses used in research.
