Dietitian's Tips for Consuming Sage Tea

  • Calming Effect: Sage tea is a wonderful choice to soothe the mind after a stressful day. The natural oils it contains gently relax the nervous system and can help you transition into a better quality sleep.
  • Consumption Recommendation: Be careful not to boil the leaves directly; steeping them in already boiled water for 5-7 minutes brings out the best aroma. If the taste feels too bitter, adding a slice of lemon or a touch of honey can soften the flavor. Sticking to a limit of 2 cups a day is generally the safest approach.
  • Things to Consider: You should definitely avoid sage tea during pregnancy as it may stimulate uterine muscles. We also don't recommend it for breastfeeding mothers since it can reduce milk supply. If you are on blood pressure medication, it's wise to consult your doctor first.
  • Exercise Equivalent: It has almost zero calories! You don't need to put in any extra effort to burn off a mug of sage tea; on the contrary, you can sip it with pleasure to rest your body after a workout.
