Dietitian's Tips for Consuming Fersan Detox Apple Cider Vinegar Sparkling Drink

A 250 ml bottle of Fersan Sirke Ana apple sparkling drink contains about 38 kcal and 9 g sugars. It is a ready-to-drink apple and vinegar beverage, rather than undiluted apple cider vinegar measured by the spoonful.

Bottle and glass quantities

The label gives 15 kcal and 3.6 g sugars per 100 ml. Half a bottle, 125 ml, provides about 19 kcal and 4.5 g sugars. Use the volume poured when counting a glass; the figures per 100 ml should not be treated as figures per 100 g.

Vinegar does not mean sugar-free

The ingredients include water, 6% apple juice concentrate, 5% apple vinegar, carbon dioxide and vitamins. Having vinegar in the recipe does not remove its sugars. The glass calculation for plain apple juice describes juice, not the label of this diluted concentrate-and-vinegar drink. The word “detox” in the product name does not establish a cleansing or weight-loss effect.

The apple variety lists vitamin B6, folic acid and B12. Their amounts per 250 ml bottle are 0.35 mg, 50 µg and 0.625 µg respectively. A differently named Fersan drink with another vitamin blend should be counted from its own label.

For plain cider vinegar used in a dressing, count the condiment amount; this sparkling drink’s bottle calculation does not describe it.

Freşa apple-flavoured mineral-water drink declares 15.6 g sugars per 200 ml bottle. Its beet-sugar formulation differs from this vinegar and apple-concentrate mixture.

Figures follow the supplier label for the 250 ml apple drink. Unreported potassium and vitamin C have not been added. The nutrition calculation does not verify a health effect.
